Since 2000, Susan Lordi has been making these figurative sculptures that speak in silent traditions of deep emotion and inspiration. Artist Susan Lordi carves each single first sculpture, then pieces are cast starting her first monument in resin and individually painted by hand. Face is conveyed by gestures only – a tilt of the head, a curve of the body, or placement of the hands. The simplicity of shape and the absence of facial features be a sign of Willow Tree. Emotions are left to the viewer to find an answer, which makes them potent and individual. It is Susan Lordi’s desire that these pieces be meaningful to both the giver and the receiver.
